Huntsville Portrait Photographer | Why not?

Today was one of those days where time just seemed to fly. Every time I happened to stop and look at the clock, not a few minutes had passed, but rather hours! How? Was I really that engrossed in my editing and work that I truly did not feel the passage of time? All too often I think that is simply how life is. We have a brief quiet moment, we look around and think to ourselves, “Where did the time go?” Whether it be that next birthday, the fast approaching holiday season, the beginning or end of another school year… time simply soars. BlogFaves004 Frequently when I am photographing families and children that I have known for a while, I am taken aback by how much those sweet, precious children grow up right through my lens – it is breath taking. As I put together proofing slideshows for parents and families, I am usually moved to tears and often I find myself choked up as the lyrics and songs speak of that very same passage of time. Each day our little ones are changing and before we know it they are grown. That sweet pig tailed girl suddenly has gone from child to young woman, that smooth round faced little boy to a young man with the first shadows of the man he will soon be, that gap toothed kiddo to a teen who just got braces… it flies.

So the question isn’t, “Why should I have portraits taken now?” but rather should be, “Why not?” What is stopping you from taking a moment to breathe, from pushing pause and just absorbing the grace and beauty of your loved ones? Those chubby cheeks, braces, curls, looks of wonder and innocence, and stages of growing up and adolescence only last for a short time – soon they are filling out college applications, moving out and on, getting engaged and starting new chapters. All too quickly, we are inhaling and breathing out the words and thoughts, “Where did it all go?” So the question isn’t, “Why should I have portraits taken now?” but rather should be, “Why not?” What is stopping you from taking a moment to breathe, from pushing pause and just absorbing the grace and beauty of your loved ones?
